POSITION SUMMARY:
The Business Development Specialist will play a pivotal role in identifying and securing both short-term and long-term business opportunities to create a robust pipeline. This role requires a strategic thinker with a proactive approach to market research, client engagement, and opportunity identification. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of developing strong relationships with potential clients, understanding market trends, and implementing strategies to generate revenue growth.
You will be responsible for representing Milestone in a professional way that reflects our core values of Ingenuity, Entrepreneurial Spirit, Caring, Accountability and Collaboration.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Opportunity Identification: Conduct thorough market research through industry contacts and events, to identify potential clients and opportunities that align with the organization's strategic goals. Develop and maintain a database of prospects to ensure a steady pipeline.
- Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers in target companies. Initiate and manage meetings, presentations, and negotiations to secure new business opportunities.
- Pipeline Management: Create and manage a comprehensive pipeline of opportunities, ensuring a balanced mix of short-term wins and long-term strategic prospects. Track and report on pipeline status regularly, adjusting strategies as needed to meet targets.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and implement business development strategies that align with organizational goals. Identify emerging market trends and adjust strategies to capitalize on new opportunities.
- Proposal Development: Lead the preparation and submission of proposals and presentations that effectively communicate the organization's value proposition to potential clients.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including marketing, operations, and finance, to ensure alignment in pursuing new business opportunities and delivering on client expectations.
- Performance Metrics: Set and achieve targets for new business acquisition and revenue growth. Analyze performance data to refine strategies and improve future outcomes.
Health and Safety

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

- Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, or a related field; MBA or equivalent experience preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or a related field.
- Proven track record of securing new business and growing a pipeline in a competitive market.
- Strong networking and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to think strategically and execute tactically.
- Proficiency in CRM software and other business development tools.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position requires to be in the Langley office a minimum of 3 out of 5 business days (4 out of 5 days in office is required in the first 90 days of employment), unless travelling for networking events/conferences/client meetings. Must be willing to travel outside of the lower mainland approximately 30% of the time, this may vary.
