SUMMARY
The VP, Technology provides strategic technology leadership to the Senators Sports and Entertainment group (SSE), including the NHL, AHL and NLL operations, Canadian Tire Centre, Senators Community Foundation and the Sensplex facilities This role oversees the planning, design, installation, integration and sustainment of arena and business technology infrastructure and solutions across the organization. This role will also proactively lead the use of emerging technologies across SSE. This key member of the Executive Team will provide guidance and consultation to the executive team and operating departments, in the planning of technology solutions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver and maintain a secure, resilient and effective enterprise computing and communications environment throughout the SSE enterprise.
- Oversees the design, development and implementation of IT systems, software applications, communications infrastructure..
- Creates and executes a best-in-class IT operations plan for SSE.
- Directs and manages IT plans, schedules, policies and programs for the organization's data processing, network communications, business operations, disaster recovery planning, computer services and management information systems etc., according to established goals and objectives.
- Identifies and analyzes relevant emerging information technologies and oversees implementation via iterative innovation programs
- Leads the development and execution of cybersecurity strategies for the company.
- Ensures that mission-critical applications and technology are available and able to support the company's long-term goals and operational objectives.
- Oversees all technology projects in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Oversees all technical related service delivery including end-user desktop support, enterprise application support and event and gameday support.
- Leads and mentors the technology team towards a service-orientated, customer-focused culture that supports ongoing operations to drive efficiency, quality, customer experience and growth.
- Liaises with and manages external Technology partners & suppliers.
- Serves as a committed and responsible member of the Executive Team, contributing to the strategic planning process.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in a technology or business-related discipline, and minimum 10 years of progressive technology leadership roles.
- Has experience creating and executing a strategic technology vision for businesses, including the development and oversight of tactical details while maintaining a clear view of the big picture.
- Must have an in-depth understanding of all aspects of corporate technology, data networking, telephony, and information security.
- Proven record of developing and maintaining strong partnerships and collaborative spirit with peers in all lines of the business.
- A demonstrated strong and supportive leadership style
- Has superior listening skills and brings a level of intellectual ability/agility to the team.
- Should be disciplined yet flexible, possess a high degree of personal integrity and consistently put the interests of the organization ahead of his/her own.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively translate complex technology concepts into accessible business terms.
- Aptitude for independent decision-making, creative thinking and innovation with technology.
- Demonstrated logical, practical, and customer focused approach to problem solving.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple competing priorities.
- Applicable professional certifications would be an asset (PMI, ITIL/AXELOS, ISACA, ISC2).
- Experience with broadcast technologies (e.g. broadcast media, scoring and video boards, press/media distribution, in-house television systems, broadcast & audio cabling systems) would be an asset.
