CASA Mental Health's Finance department is looking for a new Intermediate Accountant! Join a team of finance professionals aspiring to further CASA's vision of a community where all children, youth and families are provided with timely mental health care and empowered to thrive.
Job Details
Salary range: $68,640 - $85,280
Shift structure: Monday to Friday, 7.25 hours per day
Primary location: CASA Downtown
Union: Exempt
FTE: 1.0
Status: Permanent

About the Role
The Intermediate Accountant will:
  • Reconcile General Ledger accounts monthly and ensure working papers are complete and appropriate follow-up on discrepancies and variances are discovered and corrected.
  • Review accounting records for accuracy and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, regulations and statutory legislation, and finance policies.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries such as accruals, expensing from prepaids, leases and corrections as required.
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations for several bank accounts and investigate variances by working closely with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
  • Perform stop payments, bank transfers and set up EFTs in the bank when required.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of capital asset accounts and record journal entries for amortization and disposals.
  • Maintain capital asset continuity schedule.
  • Prepare GST filing and other various regulatory filings throughout the year.
  • Review AP and AR batches prior to processing to ensure proper approvals and coding of expenses and revenues are in place.

Qualifications
  • Degree in accounting or a related field.
  • Active pursuit of accounting designation is an asset.
  • Must have at least 2-3 years of full-cycle accounting experience.
  • Experience with Sage 300 is an asset.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to build and foster excellent working relationships.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel.
