Job DescriptionThe incumbent will register patients using Meditech software, assist with all clerical functions necessary for the smooth operation of the Medical Surgical Unit including answering the telephone and dealing with inquiries from the public and physicians offices. The incumbent will be responsible for collecting and maintaining all Medical/Surgical Statistics, payroll entries, ordering all special order materials management supplies for the department, entering charges to patients for medical equipment, screening patients with past medical histories. Other related duties as required.
Qualifications- Medical terminology certificate required.
- A Medical Office Administration diploma from a recognized college is considered an asset.
- Previous experience in an Medical/Surgical setting required, including current order entry expertise
- Must be familiar with procedure terminology in order to transcribe procedures
- Requires current knowledge of Materials Management ordering system.
- Must have experience and be familiar with MS Word and Outlook email and have fast and accurate computer data entry skills.
- A minimum of 30 wpm typing speed required.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Must be able to prioritize workload and function independently in a busy environment.
- Must be physically able to perform the job: prolonged periods of time sitting; pushing and pulling variety of wheeled equipment; repetitive forward bending, hand/arm activities, hand/finger dexterity; and carrying/lifting approximately 25lbs.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English fluently.
- Demonstrated public relations skills and the ability to diplomatically respond to physicians, staff, and family inquires in a demanding work environment.
- Positive employment and attendance record.
Additional Information
Hours: Monday to Friday; Days 7.5 hour shifts (Hours are subject to change based on operational needs)
Salary: $26.07 to $28.28 per hour
