KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Curriculum Implementation
- Using the Childventures curriculum, plan and facilitate engaging activities that promote cognitive, physical, social and emotional development
- Customize activities based on your observations of the children's interest and needs
- Participate in required curriculum training sessions and PD days building your knowledge of pedagogical practices
Child Development
- Observe and assess children's behaviour, progress and development
- Complete daily observations and maintain children's records
- Maintain an open and ongoing dialogue with families about their children's progression
Classroom Management
- Provide a physically safe and emotionally supportive environment that is inclusive of all children
- Establish a consistent set of rules and routines that are followed daily
- Ensure a clear and organized classroom monitoring and addressing any health & safety concerns
Communication
- Build strong relationships with the children and their families
- Establish open lines of communication with your Centre Director and fellow team members
- Participate in team meetings fostering a collaborative, respectful and fun work environment
Administrative
- Interact with Ministry staff and other regulators around licensing requirements for inspection purposes
- Participate in the age-appropriate environment ratings scale annually
- Follows the Centre's Quality Assurance cycle when using program evaluation tools
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience in an Early Childhood Educator position is an asset
- Early Childhood education including:
- RECE Registered Early Childhood Educator
- ECE Early Childhood Educator
MINISTRY REQUIREMENTS:
- 2 Step TB
- Updated Immunizations (Tetanus, MMR)
- Vulnerable Sector Check
- Standard First Aid & CPR Level C
