Queen Margaret's School is looking for a qualified candidate to assist in the development and delivery of planned activities for our After School Activity Club participants (aged 5-9) at Queen Margaret's School between 3:00 and 5:00 pm on days when school is in session.
Applicants interested in joining Queen Margaret's School community must embrace the ethos of an independent school education, the capacity to develop positive relationships with students, and the desire to contribute to a collaborative learning community.
All applicants for these positions will be expected to agree to have a Criminal Record Check initiated by Queen Margaret's School.
Responsibilities:
- Support, promote, and assist with on-site and off-site activities for students
- Participate in planned physical sport or events/activities
- Maintain knowledge of whereabouts of students under care
- Escalate discipline issues as needed
Qualifications
The following are requirements for this position:
- Must be 19 or older (due to licensing regulations)
- Familiarity with child development and needs
- Experience working with large groups of students
- A cheerful disposition and a passion to engage students in their development and growth
- Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations
- Ability to manage emergent situations and take decisive action
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve common goals and positive results
- Adaptability to changing situations
- Understanding of appropriate boundaries
Preference will be given to candidates who also have the following skills and qualifications:
- Experience working with children
- Emergency First Aid/Childcare Emergency First Aid or higher
- Class 4 Driver's License and clean driver's abstract is an asset
Working Conditions
- 3:00 to 5:00 pm when school is in session (i.e., not Christmas Break, Spring Break, or planned Pro-D days)
