The LaPrairie Group of Companies is looking for energetic, customer focused and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a full-time Business Systems Support Specialist at our Calgary, Alberta office.

Reporting to the IT Manager, the Business Systems Support Specialist will be responsible for the support, maintenance, and enhancement of the business systems used by the LaPrairie Group of Companies. This role involves a blend of end-user technical support, documentation, training, data analytics, and business intelligence. Additionally, the specialist will work closely with both technical and non-technical departments to optimize systems, processes, and daily operations.

As you grow in this role, you will become an integral part of the IT team, with opportunities to expand your expertise across various business and system functions. You will play a key role in executing the IT strategy to digitally transform and optimize all areas of our business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing support for daily business system issues, keeping a detailed record of the support process, from initial inquiry to resolution.
  • Configure, customize, and deploy business systems to optimize performance and enhance user satisfaction.
  • Build and maintain data analysis, reporting, and business intelligence solutions for stakeholders across all business areas.
  • Lead both in-person and virtual training sessions for groups and individuals.
  • Assist in testing, validating, and reviewing solutions to ensure alignment with business requirements and technical specifications.
  • Collaborate with the development team to test and deploy application updates, ensuring quality standards are met and business operations remain uninterrupted.
  • Support the change management process by communicating updates and conducting training on maintenance, updates, and process changes to business systems.
  • Assist in gathering and documenting business requirements from stakeholders.
  • Develop comprehensive documentation for business, technical, and training purposes, including business requirements, functional specifications, design documents, user manuals, and training videos.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of business processes and systems by identifying enhancement opportunities, recommending solutions, and implementing improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Relevant certifications in business systems, project management, or IT (e.g., PMP, CBAP, ITIL) are a plus.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a role involving business systems support, configuration, and optimization.
  • Commitment to providing direct support to employees and ensuring user satisfaction with business systems.
  • Proficiency in configuring, customizing, and deploying business systems for optimal performance and user satisfaction.
  • Strong understanding of business process improvement and system enhancement.
  • Experience with software testing, validation, quality assurance, and documentation practices, including BRDs, functional specifications, technical designs, test plans, and user manuals.
  • Ability to review and analyze business processes and technical systems to identify areas for improvement and recommend actionable solutions.
  • Strong facilitation skills to ensure clear communication between business stakeholders and technical teams.
  • Experience in gathering and documenting business requirements effectively, collaborating with stakeholders to understand user needs and system objectives.
  • Proficiency in supporting departments with their business intelligence and reporting requirements, including familiarity with business intelligence tools and reporting software.
  • Experience in identifying opportunities to optimize software application use and automate business processes within an organization.
  • Proactive in researching new technologies, tools, and best practices to enhance system performance and user satisfaction.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly in documentation and quality assurance.
  • Collaborative mindset to work effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
