Maintenance Planner

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Planner provides leadership and support to the Maintenance Management System. The primary responsibility of this position is for planning, scheduling and coordinating all plannable maintenance work performed in the Mill, in addition to keeping proper maintenance records and files essential to analysis and reporting of maintenance related matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain detailed maintenance plans and schedules (both short-term and long-term) for equipment and facilities.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and operations teams to prioritize and plan maintenance activities.
  • Create and manage work orders, ensuring timely completion and accurate documentation.
  • Analyze maintenance data and metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement best practices.
  • Estimate material, manpower, tool, and equipment needs for work orders.
  • Develop and revise job plans for maintenance tasks.
  • Lead daily and weekly planning and scheduling team meetings.
  • Conduct weekly maintenance meetings with the operations group.
  • Manage maintenance backlog, prioritize tasks, and report KPIs for improvement.
  • Work with Reliability to incorporate potential issues into the schedule.
  • Coordinate contract services for routine and shutdown work.
  • Schedule jobs weekly, considering resource availability.
  • Distribute the weekly schedule along with work packages to the maintenance supervisor.
  • Communicate daily with the maintenance team lead on issues and repetitive problems.
  • Work with Procurement for timely part orders and staging.
  • Manage in-house repairs, including status, backlog, and returns to stock

Knowledge:

  • Minimum 5 years Maintenance experience in a heavy industrial environment
  • Proven experience in maintenance planning or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance management systems (e.g., CMMS) and techniques.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and generate actionable insights.
  • Knowledge of safety and regulatory standards related to maintenance operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and maintenance management software.
