What Are We Looking for

As a Job Captain, your role will involve coordinating project deliverables, preparing documentation, and ensuring compliance with design requirements. You will be instrumental in steering projects from conception through to completion, ensuring excellence in design, execution, and client satisfaction. Your role will demand a combination of design and construction expertise, along with effective communication skills to collaborate with all stakeholders, ensuring successful project execution and optimal outcomes.

What You Will Do

  • Leverage BIM to create and refine detailed plans and construction documents, create spatial concepts, floor plans, and schematics, generate visual representations and 3D models for stakeholder communication. Support the design team by providing technical solutions that uphold the design intent while meeting all project requirements including building science principals.
  • Coordinate project deliverables with external stakeholders, review documents for accuracy and completeness, identify issues, and create solutions to resolve design challenges that uphold the essence of the original design vision.
  • Participate in the completion of submittal reviews, handling RFIs (Request for Information) and change orders, certifying payments, managing project closeouts, and attending OAC (Owner Architect Contractor) meetings/site visits as required. Provide guidance to the project team throughout the Contract Administration (CA) phase to maintain project integrity and goals.
  • Act as a key liaison between the project team, clients, consultants, and other stakeholders, ensuring clear and effective communication. Contribute to meetings, relay critical updates, address stakeholder concerns, and contribute to aligning project execution with established goals.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of building codes, by-laws, and regulations to ensure design decisions align with the latest standards and requirements. Utilize your expertise and experience to offer guidance and support to team members, helping them navigate and incorporate these regulatory changes into their work effectively.
  • Support the Project Manager in developing a detailed work plan for projects, clearly defining the project's scope, schedule, and budget in alignment with overarching project goals. Provide oversight to team ensuring that project deliverables are met according to the schedule.
  • Conduct regular reviews of drawings and models to uphold the quality assurance process, ensuring full compliance with stakeholder requirements, building codes, regulations, design specifications, standards, and procedures.
  • Identify, document, and communicate any potential risks across projects in line with TF's established risk management protocols. Implement the necessary adjustments or resolutions to mitigate these risks effectively, ensuring project integrity and success.

What You Will Bring

  • A Degree or Diploma from an accredited institution in Architecture.
  • At least 5 years of progressively more responsible roles within Architecture firms.
  • Proficient experience in Revit. Experience in SketchUp, Enscape and Adobe Creative Suite is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of applicable building codes and municipal by-laws.
  • An understanding and experience of the municipal approval process.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid role, with 2 days in the Studio.
