Who are we looking for?

As an Assistant Merchant, you will report directly to the Merchant and play a crucial role in supporting the Merchandising Department. We are looking for an individual who is proactive, detail-oriented, and an excellent communicator, ready to contribute to our team's success. Your responsibilities will include sales analysis, reporting, and accurate data entry, all while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the Go-To-Market (GTM) calendar is effectively followed.

In this dynamic position, you will work closely with the Merchant to manage day-to-day business needs, identify growth opportunities, and develop profitable exit strategies. With your strong analytical abilities and entrepreneurial spirit, you will help maximize sales and advance the tentree brand.

What will you be doing?

Pre-Season Line Planning

  • You will research marketplace trends and competitive analysis
  • You will assist the Merchant in proposing line architecture for future seasons, leveraging sales data and marketplace positioning to inform strategic decisions
  • You will oversee all merchandising-related data entry for new seasons in PLM and Line Architecture
  • You will quantify proposed seasonal buy and reorder opportunities
  • You will partner with cross-functional teams to develop and execute capsule collections and seasonal drop initiatives
  • You will organize the sample process for quarterly reviews and checkpoint meetings, facilitating effective communication and decision-making
  • You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the seasonal wholesale catalogue is executed accurately and on time, maintaining high standards of quality and consistency

In-Season Analysis

  • You will pull sales reports as needed and support the Merchant in reviewing performance metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement
  • You will offer informed recommendations to the Merchant regarding markdown strategies, increased sales opportunities, new product launches, and key promotional events
  • You will assist the Merchant with day-to-day business needs, ensuring smooth operations and responsiveness to challenges
  • You will work to develop a comprehensive understanding of the open-to-buy process and overall buying strategies
  • You will coordinate key checkpoint meetings with cross-functional partners, ensuring that all GTM calendar milestones are achieved on schedule
  • You will actively manage all PLM merchandising information by style
  • You will collaborate with the Production team to ensure timely delivery of products, maintaining alignment with merchandising strategies
  • You will regularly review the company website, focusing on product merchandising, image usage, layout, and content to ensure an engaging customer experience

Post-Season Inventory Analysis

  • You will support in the execution of monthly and quarterly post-season recaps, identifying what worked, what didn't, and what was learned
  • You will collect feedback from cross-functional teams regarding past season performance across all channels
  • You will assist the Merchant in formulating key seasonal takeaways and actionable items, translating insights into strategies for future seasons
  • You will brainstorm with cross-functional teams to continuously improve and streamline processes and communication

Requirements

Professional Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a merchandising, retail, or related role, demonstrating a strong understanding of sales analysis and product management
  • Familiarity with business systems and applications (PLM is an asset)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Google Suite, email and internet applications
  • Excellent sense of style, colour and trends; focus on sustainability is a bonus

A typical hiring range for this position is $48,000-$55,000 CAD per year with the final salary offer based on your qualifications, job-related skills, and relevant experience.
