Position Overview:
Working an average of 50 hours per week on jobsites in Northern Ontario, you will be reporting to your supervisor. A construction labour's responsibilities focus on performing physical tasks, working outside in the elements in a team environment and around heavy equipment. The general type of work will include raking, shoveling, sweeping, flagging, lifting heavy objects, rigging, operating hand tools and gas engine equipment on civil and residential construction sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in gathering all the parts/tools required and check that they are in good working order
- Complete, write and submit daily pre-operation check of equipment and power tools
- Execute work directions in a professional, safe and efficient manner.
- Secure work site, gather all tools and keep them in good working condition and organized.
- Understand grades, desired results and construction processes.
- Type of work varies to road building, laying pipes, civil infrastructure, demolition, landscaping, concrete, paving, site work, weeping tiles, septic systems, etc.
- All labour duties such as shoveling, raking, sweeping, lifting, rigging, moving objects, traffic control, etc. related to the tasks above
- Potential work involving working at heights and confined space.
Requirements / Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years experience in a construction setting
- Mechanical experience is preferred
- Strong work ethic and physically fit
- Open minded, ambitious and organized
- Valid drivers license
