Scope:
The Data and Content Management Division uses a one-government approach to information and privacy governance, decision-making, and service delivery across the Government of Alberta balanced with individual client needs. This facilitates enhanced data access, collaboration, reduction in data duplication, and innovation to ensure effective and efficient services across the government to provide better services to Albertans.
The Data Centre of Excellence requires a resource to assist with the leading and supporting the design and development of data services to enable as part of the Government of Alberta (GOA)'s use of its vision of data fabric to enable to better leverage its data assets. These services will enable Company data needs such as analysis, analytics, exchange, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), orchestration, storage, processing, etc.
The successful candidate will be an IMT consultant with a diverse range of data management skill sets and experience in working in a multi-faceted roles. The role may have aspects of any or all the following: leading, strategizing, planning, consulting, advising, coaching, change management, project management., service design and delivery. There may be aspects of technology analysis, technical analysis, and business analysis.
Duties:
Can span activities related to information management and technology strategic planning, project definition, program communication, providing leadership to project teams, facilitating strategic partnerships with external stakeholders, conducting business process reengineering activities and facilitating executive discussions on strategic matters.
Provides leadership, advice and direction on the strategic initiatives that are being undertaken as part of the Data Strategy. Services and project deliverables should evolve as the work progresses, in response to emerging user and business needs, as well as design and technical opportunities. Works with Manager Data Services to:
  • Design and establish enable data service offerings, including but not limited to
  • Data Platform Services
  • Data management services.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and recommendations on data platform management and establishing fully managed platform services.
  • Establish a managed data platform service by identifying the most suitable data platform for each specific purpose.
  • Build Federated Data Ecosystem System Strategy, tactical plan, and roadmap.
  • Create and present options, roadmaps, frameworks, models, and briefings for senior executives with regards to data management services, based on best and emerging practices and principles.
  • Facilitate strategic conversations to develop shared understanding and generate options for decision-making to align diverse stakeholder interests and goals.
  • Develop baseline and ongoing outcomes, key results, metrics, and other indicators.
Advise and coach product and platform teams throughout project lifecycles, from initial discovery and concept to production and continuous improvement.
Deliverables:-Specific deliverables and due dates will be determined by the client team in conjunction with project management.
- Status reports - weekly and monthly.
Equipment requirements:--Resource will require own equipment.
Resource must provide their own computer and related equipment. The computer's operating system must be a modern version of Windows or MacOS that is compatible with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and related software for remote access. Windows is preferred due to better compatibility. AVD/remote-related software will be installed on the resource's computer.
In the event that the Contractor's resources are directed to work remotely, the Contractor shall be responsible for providing all of its equipment, including computers, software, printers, supplies, desks and chairs. However, the Province shall ensure that the Contractor's resources have the necessary access and credentials to the Government of Alberta's system.
In the event that, the Contractor's resources are directed to work in-person, the Province shall provide the requisite office space, furniture and office supplies. However, the Contractor shall continue to be responsible for providing computers and software and the Province shall continue to ensure that the Contractor's resources have the necessary access and credentials to the Government of Alberta's system.
The fixed rate quoted must be inclusive of all overhead, office space and equipment, including supplies, administrative burden, mark-up and all other costs to perform the Services for the duration of the Contract.
Working Hours:
• Standard Hours of work are 08:15 – 16:30 Alberta time, Monday through Friday excluding holidays observed by the Province
• Work must be done from within Canada, due to network and data security issues.
• It is anticipated the role will be 100% remote, however in the event of an onsite meeting, the Company does not pay for travel to attend on-site meetings, nor any expenses related to relocation, commuting, housing/accommodation, food/drink.
Notes on Location:
Resource will work remotely, though must be available for onsite meetings when required.
Onsite meetings include but are not limited to strategic, architectural, and technical discussions, meeting with team members, senior managers, directors, executive directors, and business clients. Frequency of meeting could be up to 3-4 times per fiscal year. Actual onsite attendance may be negotiable, particularly if resource lives outside Alberta.

Standard Background check required:
• The Supplier shall, prior to commencement of the Services, provide the Province, on its request and at no cost to the Province, with criminal record checks.
Mandatory Training Courses:
• Once hired the resource will be required to complete all mandatory training which includes but not limited to Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and Security awareness training. There may also be some optional courses as well.
Anticipated Interviews dates:
