Facility Attendant (Full-Time) Wasaga Stars Arena


The Town of Wasaga Beach is seeking an energetic, self-motivated individual to perform the duties of Facility Attendant, primarily scheduled at the 544 River Road West.

The successful candidate will be required to learn the operations of the Wasaga Stars Arena, Wasaga Beach Public Library, RecPlex, Youth Centre, Town Hall and other municipally owned facilities as well as having a general knowledge of other facility cleaning, ice maintenance, general repairs and building maintenance.

The Wasaga Stars Arena is a seven day a week operation, the candidate will be required to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays, and have the ability to work overtime on short notice. Currently Facility staff work a nine (9) hour schedule and rotate weekends off. The successful candidate must have the ability to work both independently in the arena (cold side), facilities (warm side) and as a team member.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ontario Secondary School diploma or equivalent;
  • Requires proof of an unrestricted valid class “G2” Ontario Drivers License (minimum);
  • Previous experience, and a proven ability, to carry out ice maintenance, facility maintenance, repairs and janitorial duties.
  • Physically able to perform all duties of this physically active position including heavy lifting and working in all conditions (inside and outside);
  • Good understanding of Safe Operating Procedures for power tools, ice and facility maintenance equipment;
  • Good organizational and decision making skills, working with the public;
  • Basic Refrigeration certificate is an preferred;
  • Standard First Aid certification, CPR, AED is preferred;
  • Ability to provide a current, acceptable Criminal Record Check (vulnerable sector) if hired;
  • Exceptional customer service skills, working with the public and other Town staff in a courteous and efficient manner;
  • The candidate must have the ability to work both independently and as a team member;
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including: days, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays and overtime on short notice as required.

Hourly rate - $27.09 (40 hours per week) per Schedule ‘A' of the CUPE Collective Agreement.
