Position Overview:

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and ensure the accuracy of financial statements in compliance with both US and Canadian GAAP.
  • Grant Management: Oversee the financial aspects of complex government grants, ensuring compliance with all regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Cross-Border Accounting: Manage and reconcile cross-border transactions, including currency conversion, tax implications, and intercompany transactions.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, providing analysis and insights to support financial planning.
  • Audit Support: Prepare for and assist with internal and external audits, ensuring all financial data is accurate and up to date.
  • Compliance: Maintain compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards, including tax filings and government reporting.
  • Financial Analysis: Provide detailed financial analysis and reports to support decision-making by senior management.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements in financial processes, controls, and systems to increase efficiency and accuracy.

The day-to-day:

  • Oversee day-to-day financial transactions, including all accounts receivable and accounts payable activities. Ensure accurate and timely invoicing, payment processing, and collections.
  • Ensured timely completion of bank reconciliations and managed company credit card accounts, monitoring usage and reconciling expenditures.
  • Oversee inventory management, including annual physical counts.
  • Manage multi-state sales tax filings and payroll filings in the USA and Canada.
  • Assist in consolidated financial forecasting, projections, and strategic planning to support business objectives.
  • Support with preparation of accurate and timely consolidated financial statements and reports for internal management and external stakeholders.
  • Execute project and cost accounting requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to all local, state, and federal financial regulations, and stay updated on changes in financial regulations to adjust company policies as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to US GAAP, Canadian GAAP, and other relevant accounting standards and internal control procedures.
  • Compile accounting for government awards/funding/grants, ensuring expenditures align with grant and program budgets and requirements throughout the grant period.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation preferred.
  • 5 years of progressive Accounting and Finance experience, preferably in public accounting and/or the manufacturing industry/ or the public company.
  • Comprehensive understanding of US GAAP and accounting principles.
  • Proven experience managing complex government grants, including financial reporting and compliance.
  • Experience with cross-border accounting, including knowledge of currency conversion, tax implications, and intercompany transactions.
  • A Self-starter with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. capable of excelling in a fast-paced, high-energy, and rapidly growing organization.
  • Attention to detail, proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) with emphasis on Excel as it is used heavily in data analysis and reporting
  • Experience in multi-currency environment a plus
  • Experience in cost accounting, project accounting, project analysis, and capital expenditure analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with complex financial data
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and mentor junior accounting staff.

This role is “in office” and is located in Vancouver (UBC area).

Compensation:

Ionomr offers a competitive salary range, options, and bonus and benefits packages.

The base salary will be in the $80-110K range with a competitive total rewards package.
