Position Summary
The Swim Coach will play a key role in developing and delivering high-quality swim training sessions to our squad and development groups. Working closely with the Aquatics Manager and Head Swim Coach, you will be responsible for creating a dynamic and engaging training environment that promotes personal growth and team spirit. The ideal candidate will bring strong communication skills, a passion for coaching, and a commitment to upholding Seal Swimming's standards of excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver tailored swim training sessions for squad and development groups, ensuring alignment with Seal Swimming's program standards.
- Develop year-round training programs based on the latest coaching methodologies and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular team testing and assessments to track swimmer progress and adjust training plans as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pool environment, ensuring compliance with all internal and external regulations.
- Foster a positive, enthusiastic squad culture that encourages teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
- Actively promote and support all Aquatics programs and services, contributing to the growth and success of the department.
- Collaborate with the Customer Experience Manager to ensure a consistent brand voice and high levels of member satisfaction.
- Provide expert instruction and corrective feedback on swimming techniques, guiding swimmers in their athletic development.
- Plan and implement age-appropriate training sessions under the direction of the Head Coach.
- Attend swim meets, squad activities, and assist with the organization and management of home meets.
- Administer swim meet entries for developmental swimmers and manage related logistics.
- Participate in coach meetings, ongoing professional development, and staff training sessions.
- Conduct evaluations, provide progression recommendations, and address any swimmer concerns.
- Adhere to Seal Swimming's complaints process, responding to customer concerns promptly and professionally.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience coaching age group swimmers.
- Post-secondary education in a related field is an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proven customer service skills with an energetic, enthusiastic, and motivational approach.
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with swimmers and their families.
- Proficient in using digital platforms for communication and program management.
- Willingness to complete Seal Swimming's proprietary Swim Teacher Pro certification, if not already certified.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Key Qualifications
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR certification.
- NCCP Swim Coach certification or equivalent.
- National Lifeguard certification is an asset.
- Valid Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Check, updated 12 months.
- Current G-class driver's license.
Work Conditions
- Ability to remain in a stationary position and move around the pool for extended periods.
- Some repetitive tasks and manual dexterity required for operating phones and computers.
- Capability to lift or move up to 50 lbs or more in an emergency situation.
