THOAR Mining provides a wide variety of services in the support and operation of mining, ranging from project management, supervision, underground construction, maintenance, and mining equipment operation.

We are seeking a highly driven and results oriented Mechanical & Piping Construction Coordinator to provide onsite coordination between the Construction Management Team and the contractor's Mechanical/Piping construction team at a potash mine site near Regina. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in mechanical and piping systems, a solid understanding of construction best practices, and a commitment to safety and quality assurance. This role is critical to ensuring smooth communication between all parties, monitoring contractor performance, and addressing field-related challenges as they arise.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary onsite liaison between the Construction Management Team and the contractor's Mechanical/Piping construction team.
  • Attend and actively participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, construction coordination meetings, and ad-hoc discussions regarding construction priorities.
  • Monitor and assess contractor performance in the field, ensuring that work is progressing in line with project schedules, safety standards, and quality expectations.
  • Collaborate with field engineers and contractor supervision to facilitate efficient construction operations.
  • Address and resolve issues in the field by providing real-time problem-solving and site instruction in coordination with engineering support as needed.
  • Identify potential safety concerns in the field and work proactively with the team to develop and implement safe work plans.
  • Perform quality assurance field checks to ensure installations meet site and project specifications, as well as industry best practices.
  • Serve as the first line of problem-solving in the field, coordinating with engineering teams for technical queries and resolving issues that may arise during construction.

Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years experience in mechanical and piping construction coordination, preferably in large-scale industrial or heavy industry projects.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and piping systems, construction techniques, and industry standards.
  • Specific experience in boiler construction/tie-ins is considered an asset.
  • Must have reliable transportation and valid drivers license for travel to site.
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor contractor performance, assess progress, and ensure compliance with project and safety requirements.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to resolving construction-related issues in the field.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with field engineers, contractor supervision, and construction management teams.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance processes and the ability to perform field checks to verify compliance with project requirements.
  • Commitment to fostering a safe work environment and identifying potential safety risks in the field. (i.e. TSASK, CWB)
  • Previous experience in the mining, potash, oil and gas, chemical processing or industrial sectors is an asset.
