Our growing client is seeking a Director-Business Development responsible for account management and sales of all company services in the utility space.

Location: Alberta or British Columbia provinces in Canada

Manage assigned customer base of large electric utilities and telecom companies to increase sales, profits, market share and support brand image:

  • Initiate and conduct sales calls and presentations to established and prospective customers for all of the company's services. Create relationships with contacts inside each utility at various levels including senior level executives.
  • Create sales plans and schedules that ensure market coverage with the appropriate contact frequency, based on business priorities and value.
  • Coordinate with Operations as needed to maintain existing accounts/projects.
  • Use customer and market intelligence to advise the Contracts team on proposal development and craft specific language when necessary. Submit price recommendations to Contracts team after gathering information from Operations.
  • Produce and manage an annual sales forecast.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with related experience in sales and/or management (or an equivalent combination of education and experience); utility operations/management experience preferred.
  • MBA preferred.
  • Candidate should have experience in consultative sales and selling services (versus products) and understand how to expand services into an existing account.
  • Must have experience responding to RFPs and understand contract language.
  • Experienced with cross-functional selling and interacting with all levels of an account, such as Director and above, and all functions (field, finance, procurement, safety, operations, engineering).
  • Strong leadership and self-motivational qualities.
  • Willingness to travel overnight.
