Pharmacy Technician

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team. The Pharmacy Technician will play a crucial role in supporting pharmacists by assisting with medication dispensing, inventory management, and providing excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a commitment to accuracy, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct daily exchanges of medication carts for inpatients.
  • Manage the inventory of PYXIS Automated Dispensing Cabinets.
  • Track expiry dates and remove expired products for disposal, destruction, or return, in line with pharmacy policies and manufacturer protocols.
  • Pre Packaged medications, including Narcotic and Controlled Drug stock.
  • Maintain the stock of Emergency Medication trays.
  • Monitor stock levels, initiate procurement processes promptly, and adhere to legislation and contractual obligations.
  • Determine the appropriate purchase quantities based on inventory control principles and available storage space.
  • Receive and verify shipments, follow up on back orders, and address any outstanding issues.
  • Perform best possible medication history with patients to facilitate medication reconciliation.

Requirements

  • Completion of a recognized college level Pharmacy Assistant or Technician Program required
  • Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP)
  • Active involvement in own continuing education.
  • 2-3 years of experience in Pharmacy
  • Windows Operating System, Microsoft Office Suite, PakEdge, Medi dose, Meditech Expanse as an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of proper handling techniques for pharmaceuticals.
  • Familiarity with Pharmacy computer software.
  • Strong skills in pharmaceutical calculations.
  • Knowledge of computerized material management and inventory control procedures.
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record required
