Ignite a meaningful career at Westerner Park where boundless opportunities, growth, and fulfillment await YOU. Westerner park is currently seeking an Arena Operator II Supervisor to join our team. In this role, you'll be doing the following:
Supervisory Duties
  • Actively supervise staff and manage workloads in the absence of other supervisors, ensuring seamless event execution.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with fellow supervisors to stay updated on site activities and prioritize tasks accordingly.
  • Organize, supervise, and evaluate the work of both staff and contractors, demonstrating strong independent decision-making abilities.
  • Foster team morale by setting a strong example of business ethics in dealings with employees, suppliers, and customers.
  • Clearly communicate performance expectations to staff, hold team members accountable, and address performance issues promptly.
  • Differentiate between high and low performance, and take corrective action as needed to improve team performance.
  • Take personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work, ensuring all tasks are completed according to guidelines, standards, and regulations without the need for oversight.
  • Ensure work quality and adherence to guidelines, standards, and regulations
  • Empower staff with feedback, instruction, and encouragement
  • Oversee crews as assigned
Arena and Ice Maintenance
  • Oversee the installation, removal, and maintenance of ice surfaces per WHL or other ice related event standards (eg. Figure skating, IIHF)
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records
  • Support and/or lead the development of ice maintenance procedures where required
  • Prepare and ensure venue safety for all events
  • Provide janitorial duties around the facility
Event Setup and Production
  • This role supports the event delivery team and general services during the off-season and when the arena is not being utilized for events
  • Execute event setups as per the planning and set up documents
  • Maintain cleanliness of event areas before, during, and after events
  • Perform general maintenance and janitorial duties
  • Operate equipment (ice resurfacing machines, forklifts, skid steer, tractor, etc)
  • Maintain job site safety and follow company policies and procedures
Customer Service
  • Verify setup accuracy and correct deficiencies before client access
  • Resolve customer inquiries and complaints promptly
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with team members, clients, and members of the public

Here is what you bring:
  • 1-3 years of related experience as a Supervisor, required
  • 2-4 years of experience with arena and ice maintenance
  • Arena II Operator certificate, required
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License and a minimum of 3 years of driving history
  • Basic computer skills and Microsoft 365 experience is required
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate teams.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of event management guidelines, standards, and regulations is a plus.
