OVERVIEW

Vertex is currently accepting applications for a full-time, permanent Environmental Assessor based out of our Sherwood Park office. The successful candidate will be responsible for completing pre-disturbance site assessments and assist with stakeholder engagement and surface land applications for upstream oil and gas, industrial and commercial projects in accordance with Vertex guidelines and project scopes.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma and/or bachelor's degree in Land Management, Reclamation, Biology, Environmental Science, or Forestry
  • Familiar with Alberta Wetland Policy and Alberta Wetland Classification System (AWCS)
  • Knowledge of Government of Alberta Public Land Act and Water Act
  • Experience with ArcGIS
  • Orienteering skills (including compass and GPS) in remote locations and ability to operate self-sufficiently in the field

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for both field and office execution
  • Complete desktop environmental constraints assessments
  • Conduct site visits with local First Nation communities
  • Complete environmental pre-disturbance site assessments and gather data for the completion of Public Land Act applications
  • Conduct pre-construction wildlife sweeps and timber volume estimates
  • Assist client construction personnel with right-of-way/lease scouting
  • Seek opportunities for improvement and innovation of field data collection methods
  • Monitor construction projects for environmental compliance
  • Prepare and make applications for Temporary Field Authorizations (TFA)

LOCATION

  • This position will be based out of our Sherwood Park office and requires overnight travel to the field
  • Flexible remote work ability
