The Regina Open Door Society (RODS) is a non-profit organization that provides settlement and integration services to refugees and immigrants in Regina. The Regina Open Door Society Inc. is seeking a qualified individual to staff the full-time term position of Community Connection Worker. The start date for this position is October 1, 2024 with the term ending on November 29, 2024

Position Summary

This position works in close cooperation with Regina Open Door Society programs, the primary mandate of this position is to increase the awareness and engagement of Regina's diverse organizations in the process of supporting newcomers' settlement. The position reports to the Manager of Settlement Family and Community Services Unit and Welcoming Community for Newcomers Team Leader.

Responsibilities

Establish linkages with community organizations and cultural communities to help the Regina Open Door Society build and maintain relationships with other organizations and connect with members of culturally diverse populations.

  • Facilitate educational opportunities to community organizations and members of cultural communities
  • Provide cross-cultural education to newcomers
  • Organize events and facilitate a community dialogue to find ways to provide increase support to
  • Organize /facilitate educational/ learning opportunities for mainstream organizations to help them gain increased awareness of the challenges, strengths, contributions and diverse needs of immigrant and refugee families.
  • Engage key mainstream organizations to increase their ability to understand the settlement needs of newcomers to identify services and explore ways to build capacity to provide proper supports for immigrant and refugee families.
  • Provide support to crucial mainstream organizations to help them become engaged with RODS, cultural communities and participate in the development of culturally appropriate, inclusive services
Desired qualifications/Education
  • Post-secondary training in the area of Social Sciences or two to three years related work

Detailed job description/competencies
  • Work with community agencies and government departments to assist them in developing culturally appropriate and inclusive services.
  • Deliver cultural awareness Workshops to community organizations, employers, educational institutions and government departments
  • Build collaborations and partnerships with community organizations to support newcomers' settlement and integration
  • Introduce RODS services and programs to community organizations
  • Facilitate relevant community agencies and organizations' programs and services to RODS units and clients
  • Provide volunteer involvement, opportunities for immigrants and refugees to help them establish links with the broader community.

The hours of work are Monday to Friday from 8:15 AM to 4:00 PM Monday to Friday. This position will be required to work some evening and weekends. Occasional out of Regina travel required.

All positions at RODS require a clean criminal record/child abuse registry check. There is a cost-shared benefit package and a 3% employer contribution to the Saskatchewan Pension Plan available to the employee with successful completion of a six-month probationary period. The annual salary for this position is $ 42,379.85(24.15 Per hour )
