Join our team at First Choice Millwork, a family-owned company specializing in architectural millwork. Currently, we're seeking a Machine Operator who will be key to ensuring our products are perfect for our clients.

Who You Are:

  • Experienced: You have at least three years of work operating machinery in a millwork or related manufacturing environment. Experience with Computer Numerical Control (“CNC”) machines and related software is an asset.
  • Technically Skilled: You've worked with all the key woodworking tools like saws, routers, and sanders. You easily read, understand, and follow technical blueprints and specifications.
  • Physically fit: You are physically robust and regularly manage physically demanding tasks such as lifting and standing for long hours.
  • Have Great Attention to Detail: You maintain highly precise and accurate work to ensure product quality.
  • Committed to Safety: You follow all safety procedures, including those for operating forklifts.
  • Problem Solver: You identify and fix issues swiftly to avoid delays.
  • Communicator: You work well with others and communicate effectively with both colleagues and superiors.
  • Organized: You easily manage multiple tasks efficiently in a busy setting.

Your Role:

Reporting to the Team Lead, the Machine Operator will handle the setup, operation, and maintenance of various woodworking machines, including CNC machines and Edgebanders. This includes:

  • Setting up, operating, and maintaining our machines (e.g., the CNC and Edgebander) and manual tools (e.g., saws, routers, jointers, planers, pressing machines, shapers, drills and sanders).
  • Using quality assurance devisces to ensure cut quality is within tolerance limits and making necessary adjustments when needed.
  • Cutting, fitting, and assembling parts to create high-quality custom millwork.
  • Promoting and maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Ensuring quality and safety standards are met throughout the entire production process.
  • Suggest ways to improve productivity and solve production issues.

Requirements:

  • 3 years+ of relevant experience in machine operation, preferably in a millwork setting.
  • High school diploma; further technical education is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skilled in reading technical drawings and specifications as well as working with a variety of power and manual woodworking tools.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices in woodwork.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Forklift certification is an advantage.
