Your role:

As a Senior React Developer, you are an experienced developer who will drive technical direction across multiple teams. You will own the technical direction for delivering highly scalable distributed services and applications. You will act as the anchor for building up the teams' technical competencies.

We're building teams and a culture that respects the craft of software engineering, applying our expertise to problems that really matter. We are looking to bring someone in as a Senior React Developer who we can and wants to grow into the Staff Developer role.

Your job:

• Work with multiple teams of talented engineers who like to ship code and tackle hard engineering problems
• Be a hands-on technical leader who will spend up to 40% of your time managing senior stakeholders and helping find solutions that work for the wider department and 60% of your time in design reviews, sprint planning and other Agile artifacts
• Partner with peers across Engineering, Product Management, and Design to drive delivery of cross-functional projects and address technical and resourcing challenges in the organisation
• Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of those in the Frontend Teams; helping develop their skill levels and technical abilities
• Work to support a company culture that is collaborative, inclusive, and respectful of each other
• Provide continuous feedback, and technical guidance, for your peers and other developers
• Instill a spirit of continuous improvement in the team's code, architecture, and processes
• In collaboration with Product Mangers, Test Managers, and your Engineers, maintain a prioritized backlog ensuring the backlog is arranged to help maximise delivery
• Help your team build relationships across functions such as Support, Operations, Test, and other teams to ensure Global Relay's continuing success
• Appreciate and advocate for information security and secure coding practices

About you:

• A degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
• 10+ years of software development experience; shipping enterprise grade software, using multiple languages and frameworks
• Motivation to grow and build on the Senior React Developer role, going above and beyond to become a Staff Developer
• Extensive experience in stakeholder management, and experience finding pragmatic solutions that help design and development maximise delivery
• Experience building and managing large, highly scalable distributed services, complex databases, microservices, and API's in service and resource-oriented architectures
• Experience with complex databases and managing data quality and lifecycle issues
• Understanding of modern frameworks and techniques for building web application user interfaces
• Lead a team of talented Frontend Engineers who like to ship code and tackle hard engineering problems
• Work hand in hand with UI/UX to ensure the design vision is delivered
• Experience with any of the following is a requirement:
  • React
  • JavaScript
  • Docker or Kubernetes
  • CI/CD systems
  • Big Data technology
  • Security in an enterprise environment

Compensation:

Global Relay advertises the pay range for this role in compliance with British Columbia's pay transparency laws. Individual pay rates are determined by evaluating factors such as expertise, skills, education, and professional background.

The range below reflects the expected annual base salary, which is only one element of our comprehensive total rewards package designed to reflect our company pay philosophy, culture and values. We aim to foster an inspiring work environment and support employees' work-life rhythms. We provide a comprehensive extended health benefits program, including virtual healthcare and a wellness allowance. Employees also receive annual allotted vacation days, which increase based on tenure. British Columbia - Base Salary Range:$90,000—$130,000 CAD
