Youth Outreach Program supports vulnerable youth who need support to improve their resilience, skills, relationships, connections to resources, and readiness for independence. Youth Outreach workers collaborate closely with participants, MCFD, and family members or natural supports to help youth identify and accomplish their goals. We meet youth where they are at and provide one one-on-one or group-based supports in office and in the community.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Gathers information relevant to the youths' problems, needs, and risks by interviewing, observing behaviour, meeting with caregivers and service providers, and using an assessment tool. Review the information gathered to identify strengths, problems, needs, and risks.
  • Develops and implement short-term, issue-specific intervention plans within the program scope.
  • Plans, prepares, and conducts group or individual sessions using techniques such as active listening, conflict resolution, and problem-solving to resolve the identified problems, needs, and risks.
  • Assesses effectiveness of strategies used and checks in on youths' progress toward goals – shifting approach where necessary to best meet the needs of youth.
  • Maintains related records and statistics and provides reports to the supervisor as required
  • Liaise with other professionals and youths' natural supports to promote the interests of youth and their families.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • A diploma, certificate and/or relevant experience working with children in recreation, education, or social services.
  • First Aid Certificate.
  • Class 5 driver's license and a driver's abstract

Hours: 15 hours per week, flexible schedule Monday to Friday between 9:00 am-4:00 pm

Rate of Pay: $24.13/hour
