Company Description

Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc. and VINCI Construction Grands Projects are undertaking the design, build, and finance of the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations, and Tunnel (South Civil) package.

As Ontario Transit Group, we are now mobilizing our design and construction crews, with major works. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030.

The project will strengthen Ontario's economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction.

What is the project?

  • A six-kilometer tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River).
  • Stations:
    • One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station.
    • Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations.
    • Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown).

Job Description

As a Senior Lead Surveyor at Ontario Transit Group (OTG), you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all office-based survey activities related to the Ontario Line South project. You will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, precision, and quality of survey data and deliverables, while collaborating with field surveyors, engineers, and project managers to support the successful execution of the project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Survey Management: Oversee and manage all office-based survey activities, including data analysis, CAD drafting, and report generation.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze survey data collected from the field to ensure accuracy and compliance with project specifications and surveying standards.
  • CAD Drafting: Utilize AutoCAD and other software to create detailed drawings, maps, and schematics based on survey data.
  • Quality Control: Implement quality control procedures to maintain the highest level of precision and accuracy in all office-based survey work.
  • Documentation: Maintain organized records of survey data, drawings, and reports, ensuring easy access for project teams and stakeholders.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with field surveyors, engineers, and project managers to provide crucial support for project planning and execution.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and address discrepancies or issues in survey data and collaborate with field teams to find solutions.
  • Technical Expertise: Stay updated with the latest advancements in surveying technology and software, and apply this knowledge to improve office-based survey processes.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Education: Degree or diploma in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in surveying, with at least 3-5 years in a lead or senior role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other CAD software. Strong knowledge of surveying equipment and technology, including GPS, total stations, and laser scanning.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex survey data and make informed decisions to ensure project success.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and quality in survey work.
  • Problem-Solving: Proven ability to identify and resolve issues related to survey data and project execution.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring a team of survey professionals.
