Position: Safety Coordinator

Type: Fulltime Permanent

Location: Surrey, BC

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday

Position Overview

Velocity Truck Centre Canada, formally known as First Truck Centre, has an exciting opening for a Safety Coordinator based out of Surrey BC. As the Safety Coordinator, you will be responsible for developing and implementing safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees and customers in multiple dealerships.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement effective HSE programs.
  • COR auditing and Maintain COR certification.
  • Lead, identify, and manage HSE risk across the region.
  • Monitor HSE effectiveness and report on organizational WHS performance.
  • Mentor and coach team members to positively impact the safety culture.
  • Ability to engage with and influence a sizeable operational workforce ( Unionized and Non-Union).
  • Coordinate distribution of safety material to all branch locations
  • Investigate accidents or incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of the dealerships, offices and equipment.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and changes in safety regulations.
  • Regular travel inter-provincially, which may include overnight stays.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Certificate / Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Demonstrated experience of at least five (5) years in a Health, Safety, and Environmental position.
  • COR certification.
  • Able to travel to various branches regularly.
  • Experience with the automotive / Heavy truck industry.
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Safety management software titles.
  • Above average communication skills both verbally and written.
  • Working in a similar industry or environment is considered an asset.
