Purpose of the Position:

The role focuses on providing technical accounting knowledge to the executive team of Bioriginal, as well as providing leadership to accounting operations within the Company. The role provides accounting leadership within the organization, while utilizing a continuous improvement mindset to improve accounting and reporting systems within the organization. The Senior Accountant plays a key role in supporting the financial health of the organization.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and assists with preparation of month-end and year-end financial statements.
  • Ensures the Company is following accounting best practices.
  • Performs variance analysis and prepares account reconciliations.
  • Generates various accounting and financial reports to meet the needs of the business.
  • Provides input and leadership into budgets and forecasts.
  • Provides general oversight to various accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger and taxes.
  • Analyzes transactional data and prepares journal entries as appropriate.
  • Assists with subsidiary and parent Company consolidations, including international subsidiaries.
  • Assesses and recommends improvements in accounting procedures and systems.
  • Assesses internal controls (including risk assessments) and provides recommendations where gaps exist.
  • Assits with financial and tax audits.
  • Stays on top best practices, trends, changing legislation and ensures the Company is in compliance.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to junior accounting staff as required.
  • Participates in special projects, system implementations, financial analysis and other rquests as needed.

Skills, Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
  • CPA designation (or actively working towards) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of related experience is required, with previous leadership experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in utilizing ERP systems, accounting software and Microsoft excel is required.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills required.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy is required.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills required.
