The Opportunity
As a Lead Surveyor working in the Civil and Infrastructure team at Pomerleau, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate layout for our current and future projects. Working on large-scale civil and infrastructure construction projects - ranging from $15 million to upwards of $1 billion, your exceptional eye for detail will enable you to make significant contributions to the successful delivery of our projects.

Please note that this role is for the Marine Terminal construction scope of work at the Woodfibre LNG project 7 km to the West of Squamish. This is shift based work at a remote project site, with accommodations on a Floatel. The successful candidate will need to be comfortable working within this environment, on a rotation on and off work schedule

What YOU Will Do

  • Using your past project experience to lead and mentor more junior survey team members.
  • Take responsibility for data preparation for construction layout and review the quality of work by others on your team.
  • Take responsibility for survey planning for materials and equipment needs for the projects expected survey requests from the Project management team. Work collaboratively with your team to help the project succeed in survey delivery and final construction product.
  • Setup and operate total station and GPS instruments for precise lay-out and as-built capture of marine structures, including piles, concrete and steel structures.
  • Demonstrate full knowledge of instrument parameters, including EDM settings and prism constants.
  • Collect, organize, and record measurements and data to prepare drawings, charts, plans, and analysis of survey data and other construction documents.
  • Utilize coordinate geometry expertise, and clear understanding of the relationship in the horizontal and vertical planes of Issued for construction drawings.
  • Apply basic knowledge of geodesy and UTM grid coordinate systems and the translation to local ground coordinate system.
What you will bring:
  • Minimum 5 years of construction surveying experience in civil/infrastructure construction projects
  • The ability to interpret and use information from maps, drawings and measurements taken in the field
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • High level of attention to detail and ability to work independently on multiple survey tasks and assignments
  • A Post-secondary degree or diploma in Geospatial or Geoscience studies or a technical engineering technician or related discipline to construction is a priority in candidate review. Demonstrated construction work history can also reflect highly during candidate review.
  • Proficiency in AutoDesk Civil 3D and other survey specific softwares is expected.
  • Experience supporting Marine Piling or heavy lift operations in your past career an asset.
  • Experience with bathymetric survey collection and data processing also valuable.
  • Experience with GPS technical support for marine machine control an asset.
  • Adaptable and willing to work varying hours as the job require

The expected salary range for this opportunity is $94,000 - $127,000, plus applicable Project Assignment Uplift. Please note that salaries may vary depending on the candidate's experience and geographical location. Listed compensation is exclusive of bonus and in addition to our extensive employee benefits program, which is listed above.
