Introduction & Key Role Objectives

WJ Groundwater is the leading construction dewatering and groundwater specialist in the UK with operations in Canada, the Middle East, Poland & the Philippines. We have specialized plant and equipment that allows us to install custom dewatering systems in various environments including from within tunnels and shafts and from the surface.


Logistics and Yard operations are an essential part of our business and are pivotal in enabling WJ Canada's ability to execute projects on time and on budget. The principal function of this position is to coordinate the preparation of various plants, equipment and material for various projects and to schedule pickups/deliveries between suppliers, WJ sites, yard and office.

Reports to Logistics Manager

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Receive and organize material requests from site (i.e. Project Managers, Foreman, Yard Supervisor, Operatives, etc.) for various equipment, assemblies and fittings and assess associated requirements for sub-assemblies, fittings and other purchased components.
  • Organize, maintain, monitor and record inventory of fittings, assemblies and other equipment and spare parts at the yard by keeping an up-to-date inventory list and liaising with the Logistics Manager and Yard Supervisor for purchasing restock.
  • Oversee the procurement of yard supplies and materials.
  • Manage WJ Drivers and fleet to efficiently schedule pickups and deliveries between suppliers, WJ yard, sites and office and ensure current and upcoming project plant, equipment and material needs are fulfilled.
  • Liaise with third-party logistics service providers and arrange delivery of material to site by external subcontractors.
  • Assist Logistics Manager with purchasing requirements, as needed.
  • Assist in processing repairs required to equipment, establish and maintain Service schedules for company's plant, equipment and vehicles, and prepare information for review by Logistics Manager.
  • Act as main point of contact for receiving, stocking and shipping.
  • Collect packing slips, maintain records, and inspection sheets to submit to applicable personnel as required.
  • Work with the Yard Supervisor and Logistics Manager to order materials needed to repair and maintain WJ equipment as required.
  • Work with Yard Supervisor to ensure all WJ Equipment is in great condition before leaving the yard to promote a professional image.
  • Assist with assembly work as required.
  • Be responsible for own health and safety and that of colleagues, in accordance with current construction guidance and relevant legislation.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A motivated and hardworking individual with good written and verbal communication skills is essential.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Logistics Specialist in the construction industry or similar industry involving pumping, piping and/or drilling equipment.
  • Experience with dewatering, drilling or construction equipment is considered an asset.
  • Experience with fluid handling, pumping or piping equipment systems or processes, or mechanical/HVAC is also beneficial.
  • Experience in warehousing, transportation, or other related industry is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in Smartsheet, Excel and other Microsoft Office software is required, experience with CAD or other modelling software is considered beneficial.
