We are currently hiring for 2 Accounts Payable Associate positions, which can be located at any of our dealerships across British Columbia. These locations include Nanaimo, Victoria, Surrey, Abbotsford, Prince George, Terrace, Williams Lake, Kelowna, Kamloops, and Fort St. John. This flexibility allows you to join our team from a location that suits you best while contributing to our dynamic and growing organization.

Position Overview:

Velocity Truck Centre Canada is seeking a highly organized and skilled Accounts Payable Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate will be adept at multi-tasking and full-cycle accounting, possess a positive outlook, and have experience in a multi-branch environment. With support from the Controllers, the AP Associate will manage accounts payable processes, including posting and reconciling vendor invoices and statements, AP adjustments, corporate visa transactions, and preparing batch disbursements. Cross-training with team members is essential to ensure a high-functioning team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Full-cycle accounting tasks, including:
  • Posting and reconciling visa statement transactions for multiple corporate cardholders
  • Posting and reconciling large dealer invoices and statements
  • Preparing and reconciling batch disbursements
  • Preparing financial analyses, month-end reports, and reconciliations
  • Investigating and resolving account discrepancies, and preparing adjusting journal entries
  • Assisting with creating and developing processes and procedures
  • Assisting with year-end audit preparations
  • Supporting the payroll process as needed
  • Performing other duties as assigned

  • Problem Solving: Structured approach to investigating and resolving issues with excellent follow-up skills.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting or Finance
  • 3+ years of related experience in AP, including management or supervisory experience
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to analyze and present numerical data effectively
  • Negotiation and relationship-building skills
  • Experience with Accounting software Excede (an asset)
  • Good stress management and de-escalation skills
  • Dealership experience preferred, particularly in automotive/truck dealership environments handling high transaction volumes

Working Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Sedentary office environment with extended hours of typing and data processing
  • Approximately 50% of the time dedicated to phone calls and interactions with customers and staff
  • Minimal lifting requirements (up to 20-25 lbs on occasion)
