Cabin Resources Management Ltd. has built a foundation of experience and dedication to quality and innovative solutions in four main divisions: forestry, environmental operations, recreation solutions and wildfire management. We are currently looking to add a Geospatial Analyst to our Forestry division.

Responsibilities:

As a Geospatial Analyst you will be responsible for the following:

  • Development, deployment and maintenance of customized analytical geospatial tools for the Resource Analysis and Planning department.
  • Conducting spatial analysis leveraging remote sensing data including Satellite, LiDAR and Drone acquired data.
  • Lead GIS projects from conception to completion including defining project scopes, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Work with forestry planners and other divisional managers to develop customized geospatial solutions.
  • Preparing and presenting recommendations and results to technical and non-technical audiences.

What we are looking for:

  • Degree or diploma in Geographic Information Systems or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2-4 years experience performing spatial analysis in the natural resource sector
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing LiDAR datasets in support of forestry planning
  • Current FIT, RFT or RPF is considered an asset
  • Experience utilizing QGIS, ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Web Applications.
  • General knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, Arcade, ArcPy, JavaScript, HTML.
  • General scripting expertise of complex workflows
  • Demonstrated experience related to the creation, quality control and analysis of Raster and Vector data sets.
  • Ability to produce descriptive statistics from tabular data sets; training and evaluation of regression models, and clustering and segmentation.
  • Organizational skills related to data archiving, change tracking, structure, and other management standards.
  • Domain knowledge of forestry: understanding of forest management and forest ecology at the landscape-level; ability to interpret and represent forest policy and management guidance in spatial and quantitative analysis.
