Job Description

The Sr. Financial Analyst, Manufacturing will be a key business partner to both Operations and Finance Teams. They will be responsible for the development of performance management reporting tools to drive cost efficiencies, monthly closing and ad-hoc financial analysis. This role will develop and implement accounting controls to provide decision support to the business and drive the standardization across all manufacturing facilities.

Qualifications

What You'll Do:

  • Analyze actual manufacturing costs and provide meaningful explanations to variances from standard and LE.
  • Develop a deep understanding of manufacturing process and labor expense drivers, act as the Subject Matter Expert on labor expenses across all Canadian factories.
  • Develop data analytics and reporting that provides detailed and robust report specifying labor variance drivers and provide actionable insights to the Operations Leadership.
  • Manage and report key accounting and operation KPIs such as direct labor efficiencies, plant capacity, cost per unit of production, as well as other reporting tools.
  • Quantify the dollar impact of plant level activities based off on non-financial metrics, providing management with reports that impact to COGS.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting controls at plant level and implement best practices for E2E processes.
  • Assist in month-end closing process by preparing KPI graphs, tables and comments for the CFO and COO deck. Analyze and book journal entries in ERP related to plant as well as corporate.
  • Present monthly results to the operations team and clearly communicating insights, actions and tracking follow-ups.
  • Build strong relationship with business partners.
  • Assist with annual standard cost update.
  • Support finance partners in process documentation identifying gaps, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvements.
  • Work closely with Operations and Finance teams to build complete budget and forecast.
  • Create and maintain financial models to improve visibility and tracking of expenses.
  • Identify process improvement areas and help develop mitigation procedures.

Experience, Education and Designations:

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in an Operations Finance role.
  • University degree in Accounting, Business or Finance (CPA preferred).
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to details and accuracy.
  • Works well with a team as well as strong interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of reporting systems and data bases like Power BI and Microsoft Access.
  • Cross-departmental experience with the ability to develop strong business relationships.
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and reasoning to identify underlying reasons or facts.
  • Ability to extract, manipulate and analyze data from multiple systems or sources.
