Our Fire Protection Systems and Services - Estimator will play a valuable role in the continued successful growth of our partnership by supporting the account management and technical teams in quoting work scopes and inspection deficiencies. Some additional expectations of this role include:

  • Provide timely and accurate information to incoming customer service orders, status, and product knowledge request.
  • Quote deficiencies and recommendations generated from service inspections across the company's fire protection offering including emergency lighting, fire extinguisher, kitchen system, fire alarm, fire suppression system, and other related fire protection products and solutions.
  • Work closely with the Account Management and other Estimating Team members to support the development of quotes and proposals and the completion of pre-qualification documents for a variety of fire services including installation, inspecting, testing and repair of emergency lights, fire extinguishers, fire alarms, fire suppression systems, and other related fire protection products and solutions.
  • Secure client purchase order/contract documentation.
  • Support the change order process as requested.
  • Process customer orders, changes, and returns.
  • Review and maintain customer database to track account information, statuses, orders, and lead times.
  • Provide timely feedback regarding service failures or customer concerns.
  • Aid in the resolution of customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, and making recommendations.
  • Respond to deficiency requirements in a timely manner and successfully meet deadlines for quote submittals.
  • Ensure proper documentation of all work including organize and maintain quotes and all supporting documents.
  • Maintain awareness of current building, fire codes and NFPA standards through internal and external technical resources.
  • Support other team members including administrative, operational, and field staff, in the safe, efficient delivery of superior service to our clients.

The successful candidate would bring with them a variety of competencies that would complement and strengthen the team including:

  • Skill in reading and interpreting inspection reports to evaluate deficiencies and required repairs.
  • Comprehension of technical designs, drawings, specifications.
  • Professional and customer service focused mindset.
  • Capacity to exercise independent judgement in the development of recommendations and proposals.
  • Ability evaluate and resolve client inquiries and requirements both independently and, where necessary, engaging team members.
  • Excellent organization and project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently to help deliver projects on time and to expected quality standards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, and work well across a variety of stakeholders including architects, engineers, contractors, technicians, and clients.
  • Ability to support the safe execution of high-quality work.

Our preferred experience and training credentials for this role are noted below.

NOTE: All combinations of education and experience will be considered.

  • 2+ years experience with fire protection or construction estimating.
  • Experience or familiarity in the fire protection and/or construction industry would be considered an asset.
  • Post secondary training in a technical discipline or trades certification.
  • Post secondary training in Fire Protection Engineering, Engineering Technology, or technical certification would be considered an asset.
  • Sound knowledge of the relevant and applicable national and local building and fire codes and NFPA would be considered an asset.
  • Valid drivers license.

Overtime may be necessary; therefore, flexibility in hours of work will be required.
