As an Employee Rig Welder, using a welding rig supplied by Surespan, you will fabricate and construct bridges, working in a safe and efficient manner. You will be the very foundation that the production process relies on, developing new skills and good habits along the way.

As this is an employee position, candidates seeking subcontract positions providing their own rigs will not be considered.

Position Requirements:

  • Experience with FCAW Self Shielded & Sub Arc Welding.
  • Must hold active CWB Certification
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in the welding industry is mandatory.
  • The rig truck, tools, and supplies will be provided by Surespan and that is a must.
  • You will be hired as an employee.
  • Must provide a clean Drug and Alcohol test prior to coming to site.
  • We consider students coming out of welding school.
  • Basic crane rigging for lifting and hoisting bridges and bridge components.
  • Physically fit for light to medium liftings.
  • Good Verbal and Written English communication skills.
  • Must be able to work alone with minimal supervision as well as in a group setting.

Location of Employment:

This posting is for various job sites throughout BC and Alberta. LOA is provided. Typical working rotation is 21 days on, 7 days off. Applicants must hold a valid Class 5 Driver's License and be legally permitted to work in Canada.

What you Bring:

  • Minimum 1 year construction labor experience
  • Proven history of safe practice working on construction sites and around heavy-duty equipment
  • Willingness and ability to perform the required tasks (lifting, carrying, moving materials up to 50lbs.)
  • Good work ethic and attitude towards hard work and long hours
  • Strong attention to detail, with a keen eye to identify issues or problems before they arise
  • Familiarity with a wide range of hand tools, power tools, heavy-duty machinery, and equipment
  • A desire to build and grow your career within a well-establish organization across western Canada.
  • Willingness to travel
