Job Description

The Team Lead, HR Application Engineer will be responsible for building and maintaining HR technology platforms, enabling software to be deployed and run independently by team across the organization. In this role, you will also support the configuration and solution design of application modules that are easy to maintain and change, enabling a pace of constant delivery to the business. This individual will collaborate with internal and third-party developers and partners, achieving project success through continued attention to technical excellence, and championing the use of automation wherever available. Recommendations made by this individual result in changes in methods, processes, system configurations, and operating procedures. The Team Lead will work with a focus on creating value, delivering exceptional customer stories and business results.

What You'll Do:

  • Workday Configuration: Lead the configuration and customization of Workday modules, including but not limited to HCM, Payroll, Compensation, Absence, and Talent Management, to align with organizational policies and processes.
  • Requirements Analysis: Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, translating them into scalable and efficient Workday solutions.
    • Effectively partner with the Human Resources team and other business leaders to meet evolving business requirements and lead system enhancement opportunities. This includes supporting requirements, design, configuration and testing of system solutions to improve the employee experience and operations.
  • Solution Design: Design and propose innovative solutions within the Workday platform to address complex business challenges while adhering to best practices and compliance standards.
    • Understand data mapping and data flow within the supported systems.
  • Implementation and Integration: Manage end-to-end implementation projects, including integration with third-party systems, ensuring smooth data migration, testing, and deployment.
    • Lead systems integration design and builds, identifying issues/risks, and monitoring/maintenance.
  • Configuration Optimization: Continuously evaluate and optimize existing Workday configurations to improve system performance, user experience, and data integrity.
  • Technical Support: Provide expert-level support and troubleshooting for Workday-related issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams and vendors to resolve issues promptly.
    • Act as a solution domain expert, product owner and technical support by understanding system implications, identifying gaps/opportunities and recommending/implementing system solutions for adoption.
  • Reporting: Lead, develop, and maintain simple to complex reports/calculated fields utilizing Workday and additional data sources to support the delivery of clear, insightful reports and dashboards.
    • Design and configure end user reporting.
  • Documentation and Training: Develop comprehensive documentation, user guides, and training materials to support end-users and facilitate knowledge transfer.
    • Create and maintain detailed HRIS documentation for internal and external stakeholder use to promote knowledge sharing and transfer within the technology team and other business units.
    • Develop content, as required, for training modules, deliver training, and provide and guidance to system users and department staff.
  • Stay Updated: Stay aprised of Workday updates, releases, and industry trends, proactively identifying opportunities to leverage new features and functionalities to enhance business processes.
    • Keep up to date with the latest knowledge, capabilities, and trends within our HRIS platforms.
  • Lead the biannual R1 and R2 Workday system releases including testing, adoption of functionality, and impact analysis.
  • Lead and support testing activities throughout the QA lifecycle.
    • Develop test cases and test scripts and support the QA team in planning and executing the testing.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Let's Talk About You:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 6+ years of experience in configuring and implementing Workday solutions, with a strong focus on HCM and related modules. (including but not limited to HCM Core, Compensation, Payroll/Absence, Benefits, and Talent)
  • Workday HCM certification preferred.
  • Proven expertise in Workday configuration, including business process configuration, security administration, report writing, and integrations.
  • Advanced understanding of Workday systems and how they support the business and operations.
  • In-depth understanding of HR processes and best practices.
  • Strong consulting skills (analytical, project management, problem solving and ability to influence).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience leading and managing Workday implementation projects from inception to completion.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Superior technology / platform architecture knowledge pertaining to HR systems and workday integrations.
