Reporting to the Head of School, this role will commence as soon as possible.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Serve as a key member of the School Leadership Team and promote the school's vision, mission and values.
- Partner with the School Leadership Team to identify and address the critical needs of the School and achieve its strategic priorities.
- Provide expertise and support to the School Leadership Team with regards to the Employment Standards Act, Labour Relations Code, Worksafe BC, and Human Rights Code.
- Provide support to the School Leadership Team in managing the collective agreement and employment or performance issues with unionized employees.
- Lead labour relations activities, including collective bargaining, dispute management, workplace investigations, and grievance and arbitration processes.
- Develop policy and programmes and lead the full range of human resource functions, including recruitment, on-boarding and off-boarding, job descriptions, offer letters, performance reviews, and evaluations.
- Oversee and direct appropriate health, dental and insurance policies for employees, regularly analyzing the benefits plan for market competitiveness.
- Foster a positive working relationship with staff to promote a collaborative and professional work environment that is conducive to maximum employee engagement.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety requirements, including being a part of the Occupational Health and Safety Committee and providing recommendations for improvement.
- Ensure a strong employee performance management system.
- Oversee and manage systems for leaves of absence, including vacation, sick, pregnancy, parental, personal, etc.
- Maintain all personnel files and ensure relevant information is filed and documented.
- Participate in other HR projects or duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- At least five years of experience in a high-level HR role, preferably in a K-12 educational setting, with CPHR designation.
- Demonstrated ability to align Human Resources goals to the School's strategic priorities.
- Experience implementing legislative requirements that impact a complex working environment.
- Strong, positive experiences managing labour relations issues, including contract management, collective bargaining, and workplace investigations.
- A record of building and maintaining excellent professional relationships at all levels of the organization, as well as fostering effective relationships with external contacts.
- Experience with BambooHR, preferable.
- Strong experience leading a professional team.
Annual Salary
- $150,000-$160,000 depending on qualifications and experience
