As we continue to broaden the reach of our brand and offerings, we are seeking an Audio-Visual Supervisor, who is comfortable in a fast-paced, ever changing audio-visual environment, with a wide variety of event and technical needs. The AV Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day functioning of the audio-visual department at all Drake properties, by managing the roster of AV technicians, coordinating event requirements with Cultural Programming departments, ensuring reliable functioning of all AV equipment, and participating in the planning + execution of new AV initiatives.
Responsibilities- Ensure reliable functioning of audio-visual equipment at The Drake:
- Manages and monitors AV equipment inventory, maintenance log, and system documentation
- Oversees regular preventive maintenance of all AV equipment
- Troubleshoots AV equipment issues
- Performs equipment repairs when possible + coordinates external repairs when required
- Coordinates with programming department clients such as promoters to ensure musical performance requirements and riders are met through email and site visits as required
- Manages weekly AV Tech schedule
- Trains and develops contract technician to build tech roster
- Is on call for AV related support for restaurant AV system
- Runs tech for events and programming as required to keep contracted labor hours down*
- Oversee dedicated special event technician with scheduling event and special event needs
Requirements
- At least 2 or more years in Venue performance industry working with sound with live bands and DJ's
- Proficient with a variety of musical instruments and equipment from a setup perspective, Drums, guitar, mics, DI's, cdj, mixers, IEM's etc
- At least 2 years experience with venue console Digico sd12 or similar
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Clear understanding of sound and signal flow
- Basic understanding of video technology
- Ability to problem solve and deal with unexpected situations
- Excellent guest-facing and client relations skills
*Adherence to department operating + labor budgets is required, with the expectation that administrative hours will be completed in approximately 12 dedicated hours/week on average with the balance of the hours doing hands-on tech work. With the nature of venue performances and event programming needs, the AV Supervisor should expect non-standard working hours and last minute schedule changes due to cancellations or new event bookings.
