Ontario Line South

Our team is mobilizing its design and construction crews, with major works to commence in 2023. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030.

The project will strengthen Ontario's economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction.

What is the project?

  • A six-kilometre tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River)
  • Stations:
    • One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station
    • Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations
    • Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown.

Job Description
  • Track and manage contractual events, ensuring accurate documentation and timely communication.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in commercial processes and adeptly write contractual and technical letters addressed to the client and stakeholders.
  • Ability to provide advice on commercial strategy.
  • Substantiate costs associated with contractual events by gathering invoices, cost breakdowns, and other pertinent documentation.
  • Collect information regarding impact assessments for Variation Directives, contributing to informed decision-making processes.
  • Coordinate with the different teams and stakeholders to gather the required information.
  • Play an integral role in Schedule Analysis, comprehending schedule logic and identifying changes to facilitate project coordination.
  • Thoroughly review all reports, including construction reports, to ensure accuracy and completeness of information.
  • Review subcontractor claims to verify their inclusion in the appropriate channels (variations, delay, compensation events) and address any discrepancies.
  • Review payment applications to validate the accuracy of invoiced amounts and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Negotiation of entitlement to variations with both upstream with the client and downstream with the supply chain.
  • Chair weekly contract management meetings with the operations team to create contract awareness and address contractual matters.
  • Daily and weekly tracking of progress.
Qualifications
  • 5-10 years' Proven experience in project coordination, preferably within the construction industry for large scale Projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong commercial and contractual acumen.
  • Strong understanding of commercial processes and contract administration.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to draft technical letters and reports.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and cost substantiation techniques.
  • Familiarity with scheduling software and the ability to interpret schedule logic.
  • Attention to detail and ability to meticulously review documentation for accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Previous experience in construction of large-scale projects particularly tunneling and stations, along with advanced understanding of contractual and technical terms.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Strong Presentation skills (written and verbal).
