About the Role

As an Auto Body and Collision Technician at CARSTAR Manitoba, you will play a crucial role in restoring vehicles to their pre-accident condition. Your expertise will be essential in estimating repair costs, planning repair work, and ensuring that every vehicle meets our high standards of quality. This is a permanent position with a full-time commitment of 40 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Estimate repair costs based on damage examination reports.
  • Inspect repaired vehicles to ensure quality and safety.
  • Plan and execute repair work efficiently.
  • Test drive vehicles to confirm proper handling.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Instruct and mentor apprentices in the trade.
  • Replace front end components, body components, doors, and frame and underbody components.
  • Hammer out dents, buckles, and defects using blocks and hammers.
  • Remove damaged fenders, panels, and grills, and install replacement parts.
  • Repair or replace interior components as needed.
  • Repair or replace damaged windows, windshields, and sunroofs.
  • Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents, and seams.
  • Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment.

Qualifications

  • Education: Other trades certificate or diploma.
  • Experience: 5 years or more in auto body repair or equivalent experience.
  • Certificates:
    • Motor Vehicle Body Repairer Trade Certification.
    • Motor Vehicle Body Repairer Red Seal Endorsement.
    • Auto Body Repairer Trade Certification.
  • Transportation: Own transportation and a valid driver's license are required.
  • Tools: Must have your own tools, steel-toed safety boots, and a mask.
