About the Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare reports or case histories to document client progress.
  • Perform administrative tasks and manage office activities.
  • Implement life skills workshops to empower clients.
  • Refer offenders to community and social services programs.
  • Provide crisis intervention and suicide prevention support.
  • Supervise activities of clients living in the halfway house.
  • Assist clients with pre-release and release planning.
  • Implement behavior management programs.
  • Liaise with other social services agencies and healthcare providers.
  • Maintain program statistics for evaluation and research purposes.
  • Accompany clients to appointments and social outings.

Work Environment

This role is set in an urban area within a halfway house, focusing on:

  • Personal and social adjustment, including substance abuse and behavior disorders

Qualifications

  • Work Term: Permanent
  • Work Language: English
  • Hours: 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Education: College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma (1-2 years)
  • Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year or equivalent experience

  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
  • Mental Health First Aid Certificate
  • Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate
  • Cultural Awareness Training
  • First Aid Certificate
