What You’ll Do
As a Fish Plant Worker, your responsibilities will include:
- Cutting, cleaning, and trimming fish or seafood prior to marketing or further processing.
- Scraping away scales, cutting fish, separating fillets, and removing scrap parts using a knife.
- Transporting fish and shellfish to the work area.
- Conditioning fish filets for wrapping or freezing.
- Checking products and packaging for defects to ensure conformance to company standards and performing corrective machine adjustments as required.
- Disjointing and removing meat from lobsters or other crustaceans in preparation for canning or further processing.
- Setting up and operating machines to can, bag, box, or otherwise package fish and seafood products.
- Weighing fish or shellfish, recording weight, and packing fish in ice.
