About the Role

This is a casual position with flexible hours ranging from 1 to 48 hours per week. As a Rehabilitation Worker, you will play a crucial role in supporting clients with various needs, including those dealing with substance abuse, mental health issues, and socio-economic challenges. Your work will take place in settings such as group homes and shelters for the homeless, where you will provide essential services and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare reports or case histories to document client progress.
  • Conduct assessments to appraise clients' needs and eligibility for specific services.
  • Implement behavior management programs and conduct individual and group counseling sessions.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support during challenging situations.
  • Supervise activities of clients living in group homes and halfway houses.
  • Liaise with other social services agencies and healthcare providers.
  • Assist clients with special needs and accompany them to appointments and social outings.
  • Maintain program statistics for evaluation and research purposes.

Work Environment

You will be working in a fast-paced environment that requires the ability to work under pressure. Your role will involve direct interaction with a diverse clientele, including:

  • Females and Males
  • Persons with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI)
  • Individuals with intellectual and learning disabilities
  • Members of the street population

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • A college, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 to 2 years.
  • Willingness to undergo training; equivalent experience is also considered.
  • Certificates in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Mental Health First Aid, Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), and First Aid/CPR are highly desirable.
  • A valid driver's license and access to your own vehicle, as travel expenses will be covered by the employer.
