About the Job

As an Executive Sous-Chef, you will play a pivotal role in our kitchen, supervising a talented team of chefs and cooks while ensuring the highest quality of food preparation and presentation. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Demonstrating new cooking techniques and equipment to the kitchen staff.
  • Supervising the activities of specialist chefs, chefs, cooks, and other kitchen workers.
  • Creating innovative recipes and planning menus that meet our quality standards.
  • Instructing cooks in the preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation of food.
  • Preparing and cooking complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets.
  • Training staff in food preparation, cooking, and handling.
  • Ensuring food safety and quality, including accommodating guests with food allergies or intolerances.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Employment Duration: Seasonal
  • Language: English
  • Work Hours: 40 to 48 hours per week
  • Experience: 2 to less than 3 years in a similar role
  • Education: Other trades certificate or diploma or equivalent experience

Work Environment

Our kitchen is a dynamic and energetic space where you will experience:

  • Noisy and fast-paced conditions
  • Hot and cold/refrigerated environments
  • Handling heavy loads (between 45 and 60 kg or 100-132 lbs)

Supervision

You will be responsible for supervising a team of 11-15 kitchen staff across various areas of responsibility.

Qualifications

To excel in this position, you should possess the following certifications:

  • Cook Trade Certification
  • Safe Food Handling Certificate
  • Emergency First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Food Safety Certificate
