Key Responsibilities
As a Long Haul Truck Driver, you will:
- Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy.
- Load and unload goods with care.
- Obtain special permits and documents for international routes.
- Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
- Oversee the condition of the vehicle and conduct inspections of tires, lights, brakes, and cold storage.
- Perform emergency roadside repairs when necessary.
- Conduct pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections.
- Communicate effectively with central dispatch.
- Record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption.
- Tarp and ensure the safety and security of cargo.
- Transport and handle dangerous goods responsibly.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:

- Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
- Experience: 1 to less than 7 months
- Valid Driver's License (Class 1 or A) with Air Brake (Z) Endorsement
- Willingness to travel cross-border and for extended periods
- Ability to handle weights up to 45 kg (100 lbs)
- Own tools/equipment: Hard hat, steel-toed safety boots, and tools
Documentation Knowledge
Familiarity with the following documentation is essential:
- Accident or incident reports
- Dangerous goods occurrence reports
- Inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip)
- Maintenance and repair reports
Communication Systems Experience
Experience operating GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment is a plus.
