- Assisting health care professionals and maintaining prescription records
- Operating ophthalmic testing and measuring instruments
- Recording test results and medications given by ophthalmologists
- Cleaning and maintaining equipment, including sterilization
- Processing claims such as health insurance or workers' compensation
- Scheduling and confirming patient appointments
- Taking patients' general medical and ophthalmic history
- Managing routine office functions including reception tasks
- Organizing and maintaining inventory
Qualifications
To excel in this role, you should possess the following:
- Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
- Experience: Previous experience in a related field is an asset
- Certificates: CPR Certificate and completion of the Canadian Certified Optometric Assistant Program (CCOA)
