About the Role

As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance of agricultural machinery. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Instructing apprentices and sharing your expertise.

  • Diagnosing issues using computerized and other testing equipment.
  • Adjusting equipment and repairing or replacing defective parts.
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance reports and documentation.
  • Testing repaired equipment to ensure it meets manufacturers' specifications.
  • Attaching components and adjusting new farm equipment.
  • Performing maintenance work, including cleaning and lubricating machinery.
  • Conducting repair work on heavy trucks and servicing attachments and working tools.

What We’re Looking For

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Education: Other trades certificate or diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years in a similar role.
  • Certifications: Agricultural Equipment Technician Red Seal Certificate.
  • Apprenticeship Training: Level three and level four apprenticeship training.
  • Work Environment: Comfortable working outdoors in dusty, hot, and noisy conditions.
  • Physical Capabilities: Must be physically demanding, with the ability to handle heavy loads (up to 23 kg/50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
  • Transportation: Own transportation and a valid driver's license are required, as public transport is not available.
