What You’ll Do

  • Cut, clean, and trim fish or seafood prior to marketing or further processing.
  • Scrape away scales, cut fish, separate fillets, and remove scrap parts using a knife.
  • Transport fish and shellfish to the work area.
  • Condition fish filets for wrapping or freezing.
  • Check products and packaging for defects to ensure conformance to company standards.
  • Disjoint and remove meat from lobsters or other crustaceans in preparation for canning or further processing.
  • Record production information accurately.
  • Set up and operate machines for packaging fish and seafood products.
  • Clean machines and immediate work areas to maintain a safe and efficient environment.
  • Sort fish according to species, weight, and destination.

Work Environment

As a Fish Plant Worker, you will be working in a noisy, cold/refrigerated, and wet/damp environment. This role requires physical stamina and the ability to perform repetitive tasks while paying close attention to detail.
