This role is responsible for providing support to the Building Service Operations team with new and existing store construction projects to help ensure successful planning from launch to execution. The performance of the duties must ensure a quality service approach to all employees, customers, and suppliers. All responsibilities must be performed in a manner consistent with the Farm Boy Way.
Major Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Store Planning, Design, and Procurement teams in coordinating internal partners and external consultants.
- Periodic travel to construction sites with the Manager - Retail Facilities Maintenance & Construction to analyze progress with respect to schedule and company changes.
- Work with core consultants to provide support on preliminary planning requirements and design.
- Oversee administrative duties such as: tracking of milestones for project plans, schedules, and reporting requirements.
- Manage the sale or disposal of all equipment that has been discontinued or at the end of its life cycle.
- Support Maintenance Solution Centre administration and management of key data analytics to help identify and correct main areas of opportunity for improvement.
- Maintain deadlines on deliverables and communicate continuously with business partners and internal departments about contractual issues.
- May be requested to undertake other related duties on a periodic basis.
Qualifications
- Typically requires completion of a post-secondary education with an emphasis in Architectural Technology or Construction Administration, plus a minimum of 2 years of related experience in Commercial Construction or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Grocery and/or retail construction experience considered an asset.
- Technical knowledge of construction methods, materials, tools, and best practices used in construction of commercial retail buildings.
- Working knowledge of design techniques, tools, and operating principles involved in the production of precision technical plans, construction drawings, and models.
- Experience in working with various computer software programs (ie.: Microsoft Suite).
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and Google SketchUp considered an asset.
- Ability to work within a team setting and actively collaborate on projects.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to deal with multiple tasks and changing priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to analyze and report on insurance reports, correspondence, and contracts.
- High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) as well as paperless systems.
- Strong analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast paced and high-pressure environment.
Work & Sensory Environment:
- May be required to perform physical tasks, including standing or walking for extended periods of time.
- Providing service to several people or departments, working under many simultaneous deadlines.
- Required to travel extensively between Farm Boy stores, Home Office and/or Central Operations (must be flexible in terms of work schedule and location).
- Possible exposure to eye strain from computer terminals.
- Exposure to distractions caused by open office noise and frequent interruptions.
