WHAT'S THE JOB?
Summary: Reporting directly to the Manager, Capital Assets, The Fixed Asset Analyst is responsible for providing analytical and operational support to the Capital Assets group and various operational departments across the organization. This role collaborates closely with Operations and Operations Finance to support capital planning, tracking, forecasting, and reporting. The Analyst plays a key role in maintaining asset integrity, supporting capital budgeting processes, and ensuring compliance with internal controls.
Specific Accountabilities
Capital Asset Management
- Set up and maintain capital asset transactions in the asset subledger and equipment tracking module.
- Manage the Equipment Catalog, including asset additions and disposals.
- Coordinate and track movement of all rental fleet capital assets through close collaboration with Operations and Dispatch.
- Participate in and support the execution of annual physical asset counts.
- Ensure asset transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner in collaboration with operational stakeholders.
2. Capital Planning and Forecasting
- Assist in the preparation of capital budgets and forecasts, including for capital assets, leases, and asset retirement obligations.
- Maintain an up-to-date listing of all Capital Expenditure Requests (CERs), monitoring spend against approvals.
- Provide variance analysis and insights to support informed decision-making.
3. Financial Reporting and Compliance
- Prepare monthly reports for Operations and Operations Finance teams.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and support the documentation of processes.
- Assist with financial analysis and reconciliation activities related to capital assets.
4. Leadership and Support
- Provide indirect supervision to the Fleet Analyst, supporting task prioritization and work quality.
- Support the Manager, Capital Assets, with ad-hoc reporting, analysis, and special projects as required.
Qualifications
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Qualifications
- Diploma or certificate in Accounting (required).
- A professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) or a degree in Accounting is considered an asset.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in capital asset reporting or a related financial role.
- Strong background in financial analysis and account reconciliation.
Competencies
- Strong organizational and time management skills; able to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Collaborative and results-oriented, with a demonstrated ability to build relationships across functions.
- Proficient in ERP systems and financial modeling tools; advanced Microsoft Excel skills are essential.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Experience with NetSuite, OneStream, and Power Pivot is an asset.
