WHAT'S THE JOB?
The Baker is responsible for producing all scratch sweet and savoury bakery products for the daily menu service. With support from culinary leadership, the Baker will manage production planning and quality standards to meet contract scope.
This is a short-term contract between June-August, requiring the individual to remain at the lodge for the full duration. All travel, accommodations, meals, snacks and beverages are provided.
Key Responsibilities:
- Producing scratch baked items including cookies, cakes, squares, pastries, sweets, and savories required for the daily dinner service with creativity
- Preparing doughs and other preparations as directed
- Ensuring that food safety requirements are being followed
- Completing all HACCP and Production logs as required
- Labelling and dating of all products prepared for service
- Communicating with the Chef to plan daily dessert features for the season, ordering and inventory needs
- Removing all used pots, pans, utensils, etc., to ware washing area
- Performing end-of-shift cleaning, sweeping, and mopping of workstation
- Receiving and storing all supplies (food, beverage, chemical and paper/disposable)
Physical Demands:
- Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
- Climb ladders and stairs
- Stand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended lengths of time
- Perform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both hands
- Work with arms above shoulder height
Qualifications
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- Current Food Safe certificate is required
- Large scale camp cooking experience required
- Red Seal or other certification is an asset
- Experience in accurately producing weekly inventories
- High standards in maintaining a clean and organized Kitchen
- A self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with little or no supervision
- Passion for the outdoors with the ability to commit to the full duration of the work term while remaining at the lodge for the full duration
- Ability to successfully complete a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) level 3

Work schedule and remuneration:
The Baker will remain at the lodge for the full duration of the contract between June 20 - August 22 (approx.). All travel, accommodations, meals, beverages and snacks are provided. You may be required to work nights, weekdays, weekends, and general holidays. Wages are paid on an hourly basis with a starting rate of $18.50 per hour.
